In Atlanta, coffee shops cluster around downtown offices, college campuses and the main commercial streets of residential neighborhoods, and the independents usually close by mid-afternoon while chains stay open into the evening. Across Georgia, drive-thru coffee stands and kiosks fill the gap in suburbs and along highways, and roasters often sell bags and brewing gear at the counter. Check the listing for hours, whether the cafe takes mobile orders, and its Google rating and recent reviews; parking is easiest at suburban locations, while downtown shops rely on street meters or nearby garages. Loyalty programs are common and worth joining if you are a regular.

Atlanta is in Georgia, in the Southeast, where summers are long, hot and humid, winters are mild, and afternoon thunderstorms and the hurricane season from June to November can change plans at short notice. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Atlanta follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

Absolutely excellent and hidden gem coffee shop. I live in Buckhead but was in the area. As many have already mentioned, plantain latte is tea chefs kiss. I normally don't get sugar in my coffee so I got half sweet and it was perfect. Jamaican beef patty exceeded expectations...never knew they could taste that good. Staff and owner were a highlight...super friendly and helpful. They also have good swag, owner is a designer which makes this business even more special! Definitely check out if you want to experience coffee in a new & creative way and to support a small local biz!

Had such a bizarre experience never walked out of a coffee shop until this one ever. Just the set up walk in there's an odd window counter no markings and one must walk way around to even see shop exists. Not all will see your same vision and get over it. Really I'm not a fan of exploiting or further commercializing Jamaican culture or any in diaspora. Naming a drink Wuh gwan without an element of Jamaican coffee is kinda whack. Why no native Jamaican Blue Mt coffee rather so didn't make sense to me from spending summers there..Nobody in JA is asking to unify with MX? Huh, for what dem bomblat reason....Tip keep politics out of coffee. I did graduate level work on Caribbean and African history and know diaspora gastronomy on hibiscus, sorrel, sobolo, zobo, agua de JA etc. Maybe try to do a Ayiti DR drink with that history. But just seeing that another patron experienced a similar rudeness when owner made a mistake is line with what happened to me. I don't do coffee or refreshers with bad energy, whether in ATL, NYC or when lived abroad or all my travals. Lesson learned as will not patronize any business that is intent on being rude to black women and disrespectful. Glad I've ia

If you are a person that likes to experience coffee in different ways I would recommend Coffee Was Black. This Caribbean coffee spot was nothing short of amazing while visiting Atlanta. I never thought I would ever fuse to of my favorite flavors together (ginger &coffee).. but my tastebuds were so satisfied when I took the first sip of β€œMost High”πŸ₯°. Because I enjoy trying different types of coffee I also had the platanos. I also bought beans to bring home. And I can’t forget about the curry chicken patties.

I was so excited to finally visit and support this Black-owned business. Though small and loud, I enjoyed the atmosphere and all the drink options. Everyone else who entered was warmly greeted and had the menu explained to them, receiving friendly service. While I didn’t receive the same warmth or welcome, I appreciated the remaking of my drink to make it less sweet after they explained it was meant to be sweet after the fact. The prices were higher than expected but I didn’t mind for the support. Just wish there was more uniform, equal service.

I honestly love everything about this place! from the drinks to the ambiance to the customer service. You won’t leave disappointed. I had the pleasure of trying the plantain matcha latte and the espresso plantain latte and omgggg it completely changed my perspective on matcha & it was truly the best latte I’ve ever had. I’ll be here every weekend faithfully
